Desire for Foreign Babies Leads
to Illegal Adoption Market
The
Washington Post recently reported on a shocking and startling trend. The
international babies that many American families are rushing out to adopt may
not be orphans after all. Journalists have found that in countries such as
Cambodia, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Nepal and Vietnam, children are either bought or
kidnapped from their natural families and sent to the United States as orphans.
Corrupt government officials create emigration papers for the children, in
exchange for generous “donations” from unsuspecting American families. The
families believe that the donations are going to help feed and shelter other
orphans, but instead, the money is going to propagate the current system of
trickery and thievery.
This
process has become known as “baby manufacturing” and was created to take
advantage of warmhearted American families, who are looking to give abandoned
children a new home and a new life. The real tragedy is that many Americans do
not realize that there are as many children in rich countries that need to be
adopted, as there are in poor countries. The children that need the most help
may be found in your own city. They are simply too old or too sick to find
homes and families. For more information about adoption policies in your own
neighborhood, and for legal help during the adoption process, contact the

your own backyard may need you.
