Then you may need:
Partnership Agreements to spell out financial and other responsibilities within the relationship, including reference to any children involved. Individual or reciprocal wills, living wills with durable powers of attorney and/or simple powers of attorney.
- DC Domestic Partnership Registration - Property settlement agreements covering real and/or personal property.
- Separation agreements, including child custody.
- If discrimination is involved, you may have redress through Mediation with your employer or landlord or through the DC Human Rights Commission.

Mediated Divorce for Gay Couples: Results in a series of binding contracts between the parties which could be enforced in Court under contract law, if necessary.
Divorce mediation normally provides separation agreements, including provisions for alimony, insurance, child custody, etc. and property settlement agreements for any real estate acquired in the relationship.
